What is paintless dent repair?
Paintless dent repair, commonly known as PDR, is a technique used to remove dents, dings, and creases from a vehicle's body panels without the need for sanding, body filler, or repainting. Using specialized metal rods and tools, our expertly trained technicians access the back side of a dented panel and carefully massage the metal back to its original shape. Our goal is to leave the factory paint finish completely intact. PDR is widely regarded as the preferred method for repairing minor to moderate vehicle damage because it's faster, more affordable, and less invasive than traditional body shop repair.
How is PDR different from conventional body shop repair?
Conventional repair typically involves sanding down the damaged area, applying body filler to reshape the surface, priming, and then repainting the entire panel, or replacing and repainting and entire panel. While effective, this process is time-consuming, costly, and permanently alters your vehicle's original factory paint finish. Paintless dent repair, by contrast, works entirely without fillers or paint. The factory finish is preserved, which in turn preserves the value of your vehicle. The process is typically completed much faster than conventional repair, sometimes in hours rather than days, and the cost is significantly lower. For any dent where the paint remains intact, PDR is almost always the preferred choice.
How long does the process take?
The duration of the repair process largely depends on the size and complexity of the damage. Most small repairs can be completed within a few hours, allowing you to get back on the road quickly. Larger, more complex dents may take anywhere from 1-3 or 4 days. The repair time for hail damage likewise is dependent on various factors. A lightly hail damaged vehicle may be completed in 1-2 days, whereas a vehicle with a higher dent count or larger dents, or damage to trim pieces that require replacing, may take on average 4-7 days. What types of dents can be fixed with PDR?
Typically, yes. If your vehicle sustained damage from a covered event — such as a hailstorm, a hit-and-run, or a falling object — your comprehensive insurance coverage may pay for the PDR repair, minus your deductible. Collision coverage likely would apply if the damage resulted from an at-fault accident. It's always worth checking with your insurance provider before paying out of pocket.
Filing a comprehensive claim, which covers weather-related damage like hail, generally does not affect your insurance rates the same way an at-fault collision claim would. Comprehensive claims are considered "no-fault" events in most cases, and the majority of insurers do not raise premiums as a result.

Can PDR fix hail damage?
PDR is highly effective on a wide range of dent types, including door dings from parking lot impacts, hail damage of all severities, minor collision dents, shopping cart impacts, and many crease-style dents. In general, the best candidates for PDR are dents where the paint is fully intact, the metal hasn't been overly stretched, and the backside of the panel is accessible. Round, smooth dents respond particularly well. Creases and more complex shapes can also be repaired by experienced technicians, though they require more time and skill.
PDR can be performed on most body panels, including doors, hoods, fenders, trunks, roofs, and quarter panels. The main requirement is access to the back side of the damaged area. Some parts of a vehicle— such as dents near reinforced frame rails, window frames, pillars, and wheel wells — present limited access and may not be suitable for the most common PDR methods involving the use of dent rods to massage out the dent. Do you work directly with insurance companies?
Yes. We frequently work directly with all major insurance carriers and can assist with the claims process from start to finish as needed. Will my auto insurance cover paintless dent repair?
Yes — hail damage is one of the most common situations in which paintless dent repair is used. Hailstones typically create several round, relatively shallow dents across a vehicle's hood, roof, trunk, and upper body panels. Because the paint usually remains intact during a hailstorm (unless the hail was exceptionally large), these dents are ideal candidates for PDR. Even extensive hail damage involving hundreds of dents across multiple panels can often be fully restored through PDR, making it far more cost-effective than traditional body shop repair. As we well know, storms frequently drop hail in Ouachita Parish and surrounding areas of North Lousiana and South Arkansas in late spring. PDR is likely the best option if this happens to you.
What are red flags to watch for with PDR shops?
Watch out for any shop or technician that gives you a firm price without inspecting the damage in person. Pressure tactics, unusually low quotes, and vague or nonexistent warranties are all warning signs. Be particularly cautious of mobile "storm chasers" or "pop- up" shops who appear in your area after a major hailstorm, pressure you to sign contracts on the spot, and then disappear after the work is done. These operations often produce subpar results and offer no recourse if something goes wrong. Always choose a local, established shop with verifiable reviews and a physical location you can return to if needed.
